Příběh se odehrává v roce 1889, kdy se Print Ritter a jeho synovec Tom Harte stanou nechtěnými ochránci pěti zneužívaných a opuštěných čínských dívek. Ritterovy a Harteovy pokusy postarat se o dívky jsou komplikovány jejich úkolem – musejí dohnat stádo koní na místo určení a přitom se vyhnout bandě urputných protivníků, kteří chtějí dívky unést a naložit s nimi po svém.
