家住北京城的肖家家境殷实，平常无奇。肖父（刘子枫 饰）是一个退休的中学校长，肖母（童正维 饰）则是一个街道上爱咋呼的老太太。老两口的生活平淡，悠闲自在，儿女们也多有出息，为邻里羡慕。不过，随着大女儿肖云楚（赵明明 饰）从国外归来，麻烦也接踵而至。 云楚七年前迷恋上一个意大利的画家，为此不惜抛弃家人和男友。如今她带着心中的创伤和一个四岁大的小男孩雅各布回到家中。肖老太本来就对云楚当年的做法不以为然，如今又和这个金发碧眼的外孙冲突不断。 一波未平，又起一波。在韩国工作的儿子云天（刘岷 饰）打电话来，说要娶一个韩国姑娘；小女儿云舒（白羽 饰）则吵吵嚷嚷要出国留学。一向保守的肖老太怎么也想不通，为什么子女们非要和外国扯上关系，这一切都令她头痛不已……
