故事背景是发生在某个国家的一个叫蒙斯顿城镇。在一栋旧楼的二楼，有一家小出版社，出版《月刊妄想科学》。 《月刊妄想科学》报导了离奇且「令人惊讶！」的事件。这是一本科学杂志，发表的文章涉及到连科学家都认为是不可能发生的妄想科学现象。唯一的工作人员是美女编辑长和编辑员「太郎·Ｊ·铃木」。再加上他的助手只有小学生「二郎·田中」和他的狗「三郎」。编辑部内总是空荡荡的，太郎、二郎、三郎都会在同栋楼的一楼「岩(Rock)」咖啡店内闲晃。 有一天，科学家「五郎·佐藤」前来求教，跟他们表示自己手上有着「能够改变世界历史的情报」。此话一出，却导致了原本和平无比的编辑部卷入了用科学难以解释的事件之中。一段离奇的故事就此展开…！
